LOW HOUSE

Single Family Residential
New Construction
3,600 SF
Rural Pennsylvania

Situated at the intersection of two rolling hills, Low House acts as a threshold between an access road, hunting grounds and farmland. In order to reduce visibility from neighboring properties and blend into the post-agrarian setting, the home is broken into a series of low-lying, single-story boxes clad in weathering steel. Its three major elements- main house, guest quarters and storage barn- are organized around a communal deck and oriented to the face the natural landscape. Living spaces open up to this central area and extend towards the vista with generous glazed openings and overhead coverage.
