VICKY MOD

Mixed Use: Multi-Family Residential & Commercial,

Adaptive Reuse
12,000 SF Alterations, 10,000 SF, New Construction
Philadelphia: Mt. Airy

Built in 1928 as the Mt. Airy National Bank and most recently occupied as an early education center, the project proposes to reinvigorate this historically designated colonial revival into a mixed-use, all-electric development with 19 residential units and 1 commercial tenant. The design will add a 2-story overbuilt addition to the rear of the historic structure and a 5-story ground-up addition on an adjacent parcel, along with a sensitive restoration of the existing Wissahickon Schist facades. The new construction portions take inspiration from the Victorian architecture prevalent in the surrounding areas. Using forms and patterns found in this extravagant style, the design synthesizes these ideas into a modern expression; an afterimage of the neighboring context.
